Hello, I am alive.
In case any of you were wondering, and don't already follow me on instagram (@ashleyjps), we did in fact make it to the mitten [aka: michigan]. We left Thursday around 9pm from California and drove through the night. And then all day the next day. And somewhere in Nebraska our willpower and resolve was blown away with the extremely aggressive win (I can't even describe how windy it was...bella was rolling away in the grass. not even joking). We stopped Friday night and were back at it again bright and early Saturday morning and finally Saturday evening we pulled into Kalamazoo, Michigan.
We slept for the night and were up early again to drive four more hours to vacation. We were tired when we finally arrived, but boy was vacation a welcome thing! And what better place to relax and rejuvenate than in northern Michigan which I still stand by as one of the most beautiful places in America. As much as I love taking pictures I decided to put down my camera more times than bring it on trips and outings. Instead, I swam in the lake more than I usually do, went for bike rides and runs, had adventures with Bella and ate my share of s'mores around the campfire. I think it is important to step away from everything sometimes, and as much as I missed this blog it was so nice to just breathe. To turn off the computer and phone for almost a week and just enjoy the people and the place I was in.
Now that the husband is working we are trying to find a place to live and that is proving to be more of a challenge than we imagined. Hopefully my the week's end I will have some news to share with you on that end! Until then, here is part one of our up north vacation!
