Dear Friends, Thank you SO MUCH for all the love, kind words, and sharing in our excitement yesterday as we announced the upcoming arrival of baby Slater! Dear Instagram Friends, I will be posting the first picture of the bump (aka: gas baby/fat bloat) this weekend or next week, so if you want to see that be sure to follow me @ashleyslaterphotography Dear Bella, Today we are off the the vet to find out why you are throwing up again, I'm sure it has nothing to do with me feeding you people food.  Dear Michigan, You're all snowy and cold again and I'm officially dreaming of warmer weather....  although, I'm not sure what its going to be like being pregnant through the hot summer.... hmmm..   Dear Moms, I'm going to need ALL the advice I can get --from which products you thought were must haves for your baby, cutest etsy shops for baby gear, and all of that good stuff.  I would love to talk to you about it in the comments thread!  Dear Stretchy Pants, GET IN MY  LIFE.

    2. I found out I was pregnant with my daughter in February last year, so I know how exciting it is to be pregnant around Valentine's Day :-)

  4. Congratulations! Ironically, today is the birthday of our daughter who was a miracle straight from God. We struggled with infertility for four years before she was given to us. So my link today begins with a letter to her. Maggie at Gussy Sews has lots of good advice and posts about baby products, etsy shops, etc.

  5. Congratulations Ashley!! I'm really so excited for y'all and I know you've been praying for this for so long!

    This is a little off topic haha, but I always wonder how you stand there in the midst of the snow and don't look like your freezing. Your neck doesn't have a scarf on it and your hair is up! I would be shivering so bad that you couldn't get a good picture of me!

    1. First, thank you so much! Second, I WAS FREEZING!!!!!!!!! Don't be fooled! We ran outside and I said "okay dad, you have 30 seconds!" and we pretended we were warm and then as soon as he was done we all ran screaming back inside! hahaha!!!!!!

  7. congratulations on your baby!! At the beginning of my pregnancy my dog got sick too and was throwing up and I was convinced she was trying to get attention because I kept throwing up. I swear she knew I was pregnant. Probably a coincidence, but it was strange timing! :) you two are adorable and are going to make one cute baby!!

    1. Oh my goodness, that is so funny! I am pretty sure Bella is puking because I have given her too much people food and now her stomach can't handle it.... I read something about pancreaitis in little spayed female dogs so I am just going to be safe.... because for now she is still my only little baby! haha

  8. Congratulations! Being a mom is by far the most rewarding job! My baby must have (especially because you live in Michigan where the winters are freezing (I'm originally from Detroit but live in Atlanta)) is the Cozy Cover! It really is the safest way to keep your baby warm. You can fold the blanket down inside of it, around the baby, so you don't have to over cloth him/her or try and put a coat on. It truly was my favorite gift! You can get them at Wal-Mart for $15!

  9. As a first time mom going through pregnancy right now myself, I can give you some advice on maternity clothing: GAP! Check out their sale stuff asap. They have the best maternity pants hands-down.I am 24 weeks along, and still wearing all of my pre-preggo tops and dresses. But, pants are a different story. As a smaller person, I had no luck finding maternity pants at Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy, Target and several of the other more reasonably priced maternity retailers. The pants, regardless of size, just seemed to sag in all the wrong places. NOT cute. But Gap is SO much better! Their pants are true to size and the belly bands are comfortable, while still staying up and in place so that you don't get a saggy bottom look going on halfway through the day!

    1. I had no idea Gap had maternity! BEST ADVICE EVER. thank you! I am still in my regular pants at 12 weeks but by the end of the day the button is un-done and its uncomfortable so I think I will be moving to maternity pants in the next month or so! thanks!

  14. Congratulations! Being a mommy is awesome!! First thing I can recommend for a new baby: a Fisher Price Rock n Play! That's what my little girl is sleeping in instead of a bassinet, plus you can take it with you when you travel because it's light and easily portable :) I'll be doing a post though on my "favorite things" on my blog next week if you want to check it out.

  15. Congratulations on your big news!!

    And as for your dog, try grain free food. One of my dogs was throwing up all the dang time and I didn't know what to do and the vet bills were getting out of sight! Then I met an angel at Petco who said she had the same problems. We switched to Blue - Grain Free food (a little expensive but worth it) and my Lovie hasn't thrown up since!

  17. So happy for you! What a blessing :) I have two little boys 3 and 6 months and being a mom is the hardest most important job ever! Can't wait to read all about your experience. My baby must have out in CA anyways, are the aiden and anais blankets. Super light and my baby loves the soft material. Plus they are really cute :) congrats again!

    Oh and!! I can't stress enough how important it is to have other moms in your life. Mommy friends are my must haves for Me! If you have any questions I'm ready for ya

  18. The best advice I can come up with right now is to get as much sleep as you can now, because when baby comes you won't be getting much sleep at all! A godsend for me was our swing, whenever I needed a break I could set my son in there and he was out like a light and it gave me a couple hours to recuperate.
    Hope Bella feels better soon! Sick puppies are no fun :(

    1. Growing up in the south I actually think Michigan summers are pretty mild in comparison to the killer humidity in Georgia! haha, but people who have lived here their whole lives say all the time how terribly hot the summers are! haha

  22. COngrats!!!Im so excited for you! your baby is going to be so beautiful!!! Minnesota is also filled with cold and snow. I want to whip out the summer dresses, which i am sure you will most like wear a lot this summer!! Speaking of... love the dress in the photo's not to mention that the pictures are also gorgeous!!!

  27. I had 5 pairs of yoga pants that folded over that I recycled constantly during my pregnancy.. Perfect for that awkward time when you don't fit your normal jeans but aren't quite in maternity clothes, and then towards the end when nothing is comfy!!

  40. congrats!! how exciting :-) my little one is two months tomorrow- here's my random advice
    -gap online often has 30-40% off and their maternity clothes were my favorite
    -if you have a buy buy baby near you, you can use those bed bath and beyond coupons for most items in their store
    -our cockapoo who is the most spoiled dog ever had a hard time adjusting to not getting all of the attention once the baby arrived, so we tried to fade back attention towards her beforehand (didn't work so well for me, but I'd try harder if I knew how'd she would have acted)
    -register for a few different diaper brands, they are all so different and you'll find out which ones are your favorite and can buy more
    -favorite store online is little hip squeaks

  44. I have been soooooo slacking on blogging lately I have not even made an announcement, but I am also expecting and my due date WAS August 26th! But when I went for my first ultrasound yesterday, it turns out I'm quite a bit further along than I thought and they gave me a new date of July 20th! Yikes!
    It's nice to know I am in the company of some fabulous ladies! :)
